Oh Happy Day!

Imagine my surprise when my darling stud of husband of nearly 25 years pulled me out of my writing cave last Sunday in my writing attire including bare feet, and escorted me out the front door. With a silly big grin.

He wanted to show me somethin. But I heard that deep throated V-Twin cruiser rumble and felt the ground pulsate before I rounded the corner of the garage and saw it.

That's right. A Harley. My husband thought I'd dreamed and whined about wanting one long enough. That or he just really loves me and knows this chick gets WAY more excited about an idle you can hear for miles, shiny chrome and black leather than some stuffy old jewelry.

We'll be celebrating our 25th this summer. On the road. If I can figure out a way to get him a matching one. Maybe I'll sell the NOVEL I'm cramming to finish and I can buy him one too.

Thanks, honey. You ROCK!!

I can't believe it! Too funny. Now are you going to drive that yourself? We've been bikers for 37 years, but I ride on the back. :D And we've graduated from the hogs to the Honda. You know the one...the rolling couch? :D

YEE HAW! Vrrrroooom!!! Pretty soon we'll be riding together! Congratulations, Camille! That husband of yours sounds like a keeper to me!

That is too fun. I assume you know how to ride?

(I tried once and crashed my friend's dirt bike into a tree.)

ALSO, you should know that Kerrville where I live is Harley Biker Heaven. Every weekend, the pour in for the day to ride up the Guadalupe. Fun stuff.

Yes, Ane, I plan to drive the thing. It's a sportster, so I don't see me and Dan riding together. Karla - he's a total keeper plus much more. And yes, Mark, I know how to ride - that is, I used to. I can easily see myself uprooting a tree with this: it's a hair beefier than a dirt bike. I haven't owned a bike or ridden a Harley since before I was married (o good grief - has it been 25yrs??) so I plan to take the weekend course for dummies and get my endorsement. And my nerve. It's a bit different when you're old and no longer invincible. And have projects to finish and people to love before you die.

GREAT look, Ms. Beast!!! (Tee Hee)

ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF. . . .

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:

I've published five novels and 2 novellas (more about those on my website.) I've been writing all my life, but decided in 2007 to get serious about being published.

I love action movies and Jane Austen. (she’s dead, I know. I found that out when I tried to get her to endorse my novel)

They let me play Bass guitar and sing in a worship band.

I can produce 4 dozen homemade cinnamon rolls in a flash for a crowd of drooling young adults. Or publishing house editors.

I used to have a Harley. Now we have seven grandkiddos. Decent trade, really.

I am a proud Grammy. Don't even think about taking candy from my babies.

I hate shopping (Yes, I'm aware that I'm a girl)

MY ROOTS:
I've lived in Oregon all my life, spent time in Eugene (Go DUCKS!), Springfield, Reedsport, and Smith River. Which is not really a town, but a river, about 70 miles long, a tributary of the Umpqua River in southwest Oregon.

Although it's not a town, it is a community with a strong sense of pioneer history. It's cool to say you've lived there, especially if you lived there during the days when you had to take a boat to school. No joke! The old farmhouse my grandfather and my mother grew up in still stands, nestled into a narrow, pasture carpeted valley, complete with a swimmin' hole and its own 'crick'. It may turn up in one of my novels.

There's a rumor that my ancestors had a connection with the Mafia back in Sicily. I used to fantasize as a kid about a big black limo with tinted windows pulling up and whisking me away from school. Ahhh. So THAT'S why I'm having so much trouble conjugating my dangling participles now.

NOT RANDOM: I am challenged by the truth and amazed by the grace of God. And it's either in spite of or because of that grace that I hold a PhD in Learning Stuff the Hard Way.
